The Kansas City Star published its Fall Arts Preview for 2012. I reported on the events for smaller organizations and university series, featuring chamber music, dance and keyboard work. There are some exciting events ahead and my wishlist for this season is filling out quickly.
My highlights for the next few months:
newEar Contemporary Chamber Ensemble at All Souls on Sept 8.
Wylliams/Henry Contemporary Dance Company at UMKC’s White Hall on Sept. 15-16.
Ailey II will perform at the Folly Theater on Oct. 4-6.
Kansas City Chorale sings nordic music at two locations Oct. 7 and 9.
Sō Percussion at the Lied Center in Lawrence, KS on Oct. 18.
Owen/Cox Dance Group world premiere of “Theme and Variations for Nine Dancers and Nine Musicians” at Union Station’s H&R Block City Stage Oct. 26-28.
eighth blackbird at UMKC’s White Hall on Nov. 9.
Compaigne de Danse Jean-René Delsoin at Johnson County Community College’s Carlsen Center on Nov. 10.
And not reported on by me: the Charlotte Street Foundation’s Generative Performing Artist Award winners, Patrick Alonzo Conway and Heidi Van, will have their collaborative show on Oct. 5 at the Fishtank Theatre.
That’s just a taste. Support live music! (and dance!) (and theater!)
